About SAAEI

The Annual Seminar on Automation, Industrial Electronics and Instrumentation (SAAEI) is an annual international conference that, in its 2026 edition (SAAEI 2026), will be held in the city of Gijón for the second time.

The event aims to provide a forum where specialists and researchers from universities, research centers, and industry can share the results of their work, exchange ideas, and establish collaborations for future projects with greater impact and effectiveness.

SAAEI has an international scope open to researchers from all over the world. Although most attendees come from Spain and the majority of contributions are presented in Spanish, the conference also welcomes participants from many other countries, with a particularly significant presence of researchers from Latin America. Previous editions have also been organized outside Spain.

Main Objectives of the Conference

The conference is structured around thematic areas that group together researchers working in similar fields, facilitating scientific discussion, dissemination of research results, and the creation of collaborative networks. SAAEI seeks to provide a more dynamic and interactive environment for knowledge exchange than traditional written publications alone.

These thematic areas evolve from one edition to another, adapting to the specific characteristics and expertise of the organizing institution. Each technical area is coordinated by researchers who also manage the peer-review process by selecting and assigning reviewers according to the criteria established by the Permanent Committee of the conference.

Every paper submitted to the conference is reviewed by three independent reviewers, fulfilling the most demanding scientific quality standards. Based on these evaluations, the thematic coordinators prepare recommendations for the organizing committee regarding the inclusion of papers in the final technical program.

Since its first edition in 1994 in Tarragona, SAAEI has become one of the leading national conferences in its field, achieving a significant scientific and technical impact. The conference venue changes every year with the aim of promoting the participation and integration of research groups working in related areas throughout Spain and beyond.

Another major objective of the conference is to progressively increase its international influence while maintaining its strong national roots and collaborative spirit.
